Thats the "problem" with using single stage "custom" colors like metallics & such.
NO color sanding without shooting more to achieve the desired finish.
You go cutting and buffing them and you end up with less than desired results. Hence,the clear on top,That you can cut and buff with no issue.
If the peel is the equivelant of OEM finish,just buff it and be happy.If the peel is really pitted then you got a crappy finish and spraying more of an "effect" style paint will give you more than you want most times.
Custom painting with SS is a waste of time IMO due to this and other issues.
You need to bc/cc in the event of problems and the repairing of said issues.
Solid colors are fine and the way to go because you can color sand them but, specality jobs are best left to bc/cc.
