Performer type cams what do you like?
There is a T bucket with a plate engine mount system on a detriot industrial brake dyno. The radiator is remote mount and out of the way. Cam swaps and intakes changes are 15min swaps. Very nice to have nothing in the way. Designed in purpose to search for truth in powerful combinations. Admittedly the shop never got more than 430-450 calcfwhp out of a build, including big blocks.
My hobby has been to build torquey small blocks, to spritely pull 4000# cars. Comonly the choice of daily road car cams was the Performer. Sounded classic with pops, performed well under all tasks, lasted forever. Recently somebody here gave me a tip about the Comp Magnum 270. After 20 min of wrenching the 270 cam was in and ignition timed . The 270 magnum made 20 more hp and sacrificed no low end compared to the Performer. Same performer intake, vortec heads, headers, q jet, distributor.
If some older gent want his Manaco to pull harder what would you use?
