Pet Owners Unite, Bragging Rights Thread

I felt it was time to start a thread for us hotrodders who have pet's. That is why I added Bragging Rights to the title.

We had to have our old 'protector' put down last month. His name was Cody, and a very loyal friend, but only to the ones he let into his inner circle. He lost all mobility in his hind legs, and we couldn't watch him suffer. God Rest His Soul!

Then the search was on for a replacement! I found him on craigslist, and we got him from a very abusive situation, and cannot be happier.

This first post pic' is of Cody, in one of his finer moments.

My Dad had to put his German Sheppard down a little over a year ago due to the same issue. Very sad, as she was a great dog.

Here is my pup. He's about 8 now. Got him when he was 6 months. Thought he was full grown, and then he about doubled in size. We got him from the Humane society. He was a stray who they believed was abandoned at an early age. After it would rain, he would want to go outside and eat all the grubs that would come up. I'm guessing that's what he lived on for awhile lol.

This is "Jake" a stray pup that came up about 2 weeks ago and was scared of his own shadow. I don't know how I would have ever gotten my hands on him, if it hadn't been for food. Once I got him gentle, I managed to get the collar off of him that was way too tight and he now has a new collar with his name and our phone numbers. He's got puppy ways and has already chewed up a sponge mop but nothing worth getting too excited about, however, I can't leave the shop open unless I'm out there because I don't trust him. If he drug off my Offy intake or Fenton headers, then he would be a stray dog again but somewhere else. We realize that he's our responsibility now and we aren't teaching him any bad habits so far. He does love to be petted and play so I give him a session about 3 times a day.

Good Post, Stephen

Meet Gunner, our new best friend/protector. He had his first trip to our local Vet, and weighed in at 68 LBS. He is only 8 month's old, and stands 27" at the shoulders. They figured he will close to double in size.

The vet wanted $400 to take care of the bite area's on him, which we found 17 day's ago when we rescued him from his previous owner. Our hair cut lady brought over old clipper's, and shaved the bite area's, along with stuff to aide in the healing yesterday. He was pretty calm for the most part, but did not try to bite her! Yesterday was their first time meeting.

The vet wants to see him in a couple of weeks for a follow up, and take pictures of him for their next years calender. They said his is the best looking, and behaved German shepherd they have ever seen.

When we got him, he was very aggressive, and would bite people. Now he is just a gentle giant, NOTE: 8 Month Old Puppy!

The first pic' is of him taking out the trash from our shop this morning.

This Callie and is my wife's retirement present to herself. She will be eleven months old on Dec. 4. She is not a fighter but a lover/lap dog. We didn't start that way, but ..... that's how she has turned out be. She does give the neighborhood cats, chipmunks and squirrels h#11, growls at every other dog, but it appears that if they either run away or stop barking, she's won the "battle". Then there is the doorbell bark. She's become our age reverser And yes she is a poodle and yes, she has a full size tail as she was supposed to go to a breeder in Europe for show purposes and the EU requires they be undocked

SHE DOES LIKE TO PLAY IN THE SNOW TOO

She is w-a-a-a-a-y past due for a full hair cut, but she has an 'appointment' at the beauty saloon for Xmas.

I did not intend this thread to be all inclusive of dog's. (my favorite)

Come on hotrodders! Post your pet's pic's, whether it's a bird, or cat, or whatever! Your favorite pet friend, from years past, or new.

There is a lighter side of life, away from the normal grind of the day! Like when you get home from work to your welcoming committee! You have to have something to brag about!

EM, he is as smart as he looks.

I will post some pictures of my Macaw as soon as my wife sends some to me as I don't have any.

Are you saying Em is as smart as he looks, or your dog?

Bob

That's me a "smart feller" or something like that?

Here's our other four legged friend but
she's more of a supervisor that a pet.
Her name is "Callie" - - pretty creative, huh?

Here are Dickens (arrow in background) and Mabel in the foreground guarding my Edelbrock intake. Both are "rescue" cats and about 9 years old.

And here are the boys, Louie on the left and Buster on the right. Buster is 10 and qualifies as my best friend. Louie is still basically a pup and is the "rotational" dog for when Buster has to leave us behind. Both dogs are shelter rescues.

And on occasion we entertain an assortment of other animal "guests" on our deck.

She sure has made life interesting. I can say that none of the 4 kids were ever as happy to see us if we had been out for an hour or so.
