Is the Petersen Auto Museum good?

I'm accompanying my wife on a business trip to the LA area in a couple of weeks and will have 3-4 days of "free" time. I have for years heard about the Petersen Automobile Museum and would be interested in knowing how well the exhibits are done (I am going, regardless, but to be forewarned is....). Any other automotive suggestions for a Wed-Fri time period?

Dave

I went a few years ago. Its worth a look. When I was there they had The Blue Flame, A ZZ Top display with the Eliminator, Cadzilla, both custom bikes and a couple more of Billys rides. THey also had a wrecked Ferrari that someone bounced off a couple guard rails while driving drunk.

The displays change so I don't know what will be there when you get there.

Take the camera and bring back pics.

If you have time, you can drive out to the Anaheim Hills area and take a tour of John Force's garage/operations. Of course there is the legendary Pomona Raceway.

HTH,
Chris

The museum is definetely worth a look. Sweet talk someone for a look in the basement, don't know for sure but rumors of a stash of goodies there also. Depending on when you go, there may be a swap meet or something else at the Pomona fairgrounds, This is where the museum and dragstrip is located. Treat yourself to an In n Out burger, , there's a few in the area. Go here and click on he events section for some things to do. http://driveonline.com/ Sunny S. Cal, have fun! Dan

Anything with Robert Petersen's name on it in automotives is good. Shame he, and everyone else, sold out the hobby publications to Primedia.

Thanks for the good words on the museum and other places to go. Charging the batteries and packing my Nikon D70 for what I hope will be a good photo 'surfari"

I have heard that Primedia is unloading some of their mags or dropping them completely. Hot Rod and Motor Trend have each been such a POS over the past few years I wont even look at them in the barber shop!!

Good website Dinger. It is now bookmarked.
