Thumbs up Petronix Install

Well, finally got around to this. Installed a Petronix unit in my distributor to rid my self of points. Also installed a 'Flamethrower' coil at the same time, as the old one looked pretty ancient.

The highs:

Unit went in pretty easy, there is no way really to put the unit in wrong.
Shiny, chrome coil replaces dirty black coil. Also more voltage.
Haven't driven much, but idle quality is very smooth. Car sounds much better.

The lows:

Distributor is hard to reach, so back is stiff today.
Car would crank and crank, would not start. Double check all connections at least twice. Determine there is no resistor in switch. Check grounds. Check battery. Check for fuel. Timing was retarded by install, played with that car fired right up.

Total time for me was about 2 hours for coil and unit. If I did it again today, would be less than 1 hour.

Overall, easy job, seems to help idle quality, so far no real noticeable change in engine performance. Plugs were new, will check them in a month or so and see if they will permit a little larger gap than stock.

I would do it again, cheaper than a HEI unit, nothing to fab and looks stock.

Plus, I still have the points and could change back easily.
