phosphoric acid rust converter question
I bought some PPG DX579 Metal conditioner to aply after sandblast my rust pitted roof. The spec sheet says to spray the acid on then scrub a few minutes and then wash with water. Putting water on bare metal makes me very nervous. also I will need to fill the rust pits with metal 2 metal as I will not be reinstalling the vinyl top should this metal filler go on before the primmer but after the acid converter? What is the best type of PPG prime to use? Is the K36 a high fill, and is that my best choice?

Follow the PPG directions to the letter, they know what they are doing. I believe if you clean with DX330 after washing with soap and water, then a final wipe with DX103 you will be fine. PPG's K36 is one of the best hi-fill primers availiable. It can be used as a sealer with the proper hardener.
The acid etch primer should go on bare metal then any filler, primer ect should follow. Vince
