Photoshopped car designs...

After seeing Steelhorses designs I think he has great potential. I have never gone to any design school but I do it as a hobby. But I am an illustrator and not a designer but here's a few over the past few years...

Original was created in 2000 >

Sketch of a Retro - Cuda (2004)>

Hydrogen -Electric car - sketch (Mid Engine -2004)>

This was fun...from a thumbnail sketch (2005)>

Mind numbingly futuristic and 100% cool.
That first one is far-out and that retro cuda is too neat for its own good.
Do you make any money for doing it?

Thanks. I do occasional Illustrations/renderings of clients cars. I have been trying several different avenues to get my work out there. I have a regular job working on a 2d interactive project with a local college that does online telecourses.

Probably something like this if they make the mistake of letting ME fiddle with it.

Funny you should say that...I have a couple of years ago. Talked to Larry Woods, long time Hot Wheels designer since it started. He liked my work but said it was difficult to get in. They only take freelancers to start and then
you have to be on a waiting list. That's okay.

I tried getting into Jada toys too. Too much competition...think I was up against some Hot Wheels designers. Now I am working on a pilot with some friends (where I would show the potential of what their car would look like if they customized it). Hopefully we will be ready to show it to the Speed channel before or by January. Was on an episode of Monster Garage in 2003.
A buddy of mine had an idea for a show which was very close to Overhaulin' but someone beat us to the punch! If at first you don't succeed....you know the rest.

You've got a great knack for illustrating texture and making it appear 3D. The different shades of colour really bring out the shape of the bodies. Putting in the light reflections adds a lot too. Nice! I especially like last one. Probably the meanest looking design for a car I've seen!

Thanks for your comments everyone. All of it is appreciated.
Have been using Phoitoshop for 13 years now. I am ready to start learning 3D. Have to get a new computer to handle the rendering speed.

Cool, by the time I get my car to a point where I'll really need services like you have to offer, you'll be well versed in using 3D. I'll definitely be looking for you...

In a while, Chet.
