I went looking at the Hobart line recently and it seems that whoever runs the show has decided that Miller will be the full line with big, industrial duty units and Hobart will specialize in less than 300 amp models. I think they made a decision to target slightly different markets. Hobart's direction still represents a huge number of welders.

Hobart is NOT owned my Miller.................oldred already explained that here and in another thread in the tools section

And as far one being better than the other?..i've used Lincolns..Miller AND Hobarts in anything from small fab shops to HUGE fabshops..jobsites and specialty only welding outfits since 1978 as an International Ironworker...the ONLY difference i've seen in ANY of them from small to big amp machines in all 3 brands?...the PRICE..that's about it.................all 3 are top quality machines
I own Miller and Lincoln at home too..neither of them out perform the other

Owning one or the other is an old preference just like people's preference of a Dodge,Chevy or Ford..it is JUST a preference.............
