I have included two pics of my block. Please help. I think i'm missing an alt. bracket but if the circled piece is it, how do i mount it.

You should have a black metal bracket that mounts to those 2 holes.. Then your alt mounts to the bracket.

Can't tell what make it is but most models of V8's place the alt. to the side and the a/c compressor in the center. The base of you alt. fits in a cradle (bracket alt bracket [--] ). The big casting bolted to the front of the head appears to have such a cradle at the lower left side of the pic. The base mount of your alt in picture fits in the cradle and a long bolt goes thru with a nut/washer combo. The upper/center part of the casting looks to be for the a/c compressor. The upper mount on the alt aprox 2" square with a threaded hole is for belt ajustment and mates with a slotted bracket, sometimes a flat 1/4 x 1.5 strap, sometimes a stamped out bracket. If you don't have one, aftermarket one can usually be made to work. Hope this helps.
