The roof line and vent window resemble my '67 Camaro but that's where the similarity ends. Your grill looks like a AMC AMX copy.

Does/did it have a Chevrolet drivetrain in it ??

All you need is a donut shop. Around here, any Tim Horton's will do it - there will be 10 cop cars in front of it at any time......

That year 1968 they did come out with 327 V8 , 307 V8 and a few options of holden six cyl. engines.
19 different engine/Trans combos including both chev and holden options including powerglide , Muncie and Saginaw 4 speeds , Salisbury 10 bolt.
Mine currently runs a 355/glide/Ford 9" diff

Its roofline was modelled on the front drive Oldsmobile Toronado coupe.

All the options available at the time are here.

HK HOLDEN MONARO SPECIFICATION DETAILS:

A version of the 1971 model HG was built and marketed in South Africa and labeled the Chevrolet SS. ( see pic ). I'm not keen on the front end, looks bastardised to me, but maybe I'm just not used to it. I do however love the '67 '68 and '69 Camaros!!! That would be my dream car!

My Rambler:

That's a cool old jigger! Love the whitewall tyres.
We have imported Ramblers here, a few running around , I think later model than yours maybe mid to late sixties...

John L, ya been booked yet?? Come on!

It certainly is interesting how the Holden line-up looks so different but uses GM components. The last pic from a lower angle, the front looks like a Nova. The rear doesn't look like anything GM.
They even played with the name
Mon-aro
Cam-aro
I don't have any good pics of my '67 on photobucket right now.

The red one has the grille and lights of a 70ish Nova! Very cool, I love those cars because they look like a styling exercise for the Nova or Camaro that we had here. They look like some of the ideas they tossed around before they chose the design they ended up using. And your car proves that at that point any of those designs would be perfect as your car is just as nice as the Camaro we ended up with on our streets. Those are very cool cars!

If I had to guess, I'd have said the yellow one was an Opel! We just don't see too many Holdens around here so we are just not familiar with them enough to know anything about them.

Of course that may change as more and more of them become disguised as "American cars" like the last muscle cars from Pontiac before the Tin Indian line went extinct, and the newest Chevy SS just coming out now.

GM is finally getting smart and using the best of their products from wherever it was designed instead of trying to do 100% clean page for every single model in each market!

Yeah there's a lot of similarities between AUS and USA muscle cars of that era. Be it chev or ford or Chrysler ....very interesting , I might write a thesis LOL! (If that the right word, ha ha).... I must admit, I'm living in the past - stuck in the seventies!

Engine is a '73 350 4 bolt block. Mild build ~350 hp~ Still has a powerglide trans although it isn't the original. It DOES retain the original 12 bolt axle with 3.31 gears but not a posi. Long range goal is a 5 speed trans but I keep buying more cars instead of investing the money in the ones I already have I had a 200r4 built for my '38 and the TH 350 in that will go in the Camaro for now.

Well, I really thought I could round up a state trooper this weekend. It didn't happen. Then I decided I would cheat and use a local Sheriff's car when I went to the Sonic tonight. There are always several around. Believe it or not the only one I saw was at the Walgreen's parking lot. The problem is he had his blue lights on and was writing a ticket. I did not think that was the time to get my picture. Since the Sonic is beside an Elementary school I took a picture just for general principle. It is up to you guys whether you want to abandon the Highway Patrol picture or not. It may take a while but one of us will get it.
