Pictures up

I finally got around to using my scanner. There are three pictures of the coupe in my gallery, with more to follow. Enjoy.

1:1 Hot Wheels

Thanks guys. I get more compliments on the Cragars than the rest of the car! At least it seems like it sometimes.

Cragars make it nostalgic as far as I'm concerned. That's whats going on my '62 whenever I get it back together. I saw you have a 283 in it. Other than the cam, intake, carb, have you bored it or is it stock? The reason I ask is that you don't see many running 283's anymore. I have a sweet little 283 that is back together and going into the '62. All I added was a cam, intake, and a 600cfm Eldelbrock and am curious as to how it is going to run when the big day comes to fire it up.

Not being a "jack of all hot rod trades", I have a confession to make: I am not sure on the overbore. I was told it is a slight overbore, whatever that means. The dealer has been unable to get a build sheet since the prior owner was going through a nasty divorce and was moving to Michigan.

That being said, it is basically stock. I am running a 3.89 rear with a 4 speed. The car gets off the line good, and is strong all the way up the gear changes. Granted, almost anything out there will beat it in the stretch, but that is not my point. 283's were around a long time before 383 strokers, 5.0 Fords, and big block crate motors.

My 283 was a hard starting dog for a while. Once it fired, it would run like a Swiss watch. We took the distributor apart and discovered that the tip of the rotor was burned off! This thing was having to spark almost 1/4 inch! Once we took care of that, no more problems. This thing is awesome. I have a line of people who want that motor if I ever decide to upgrade!

Thanks.
