its really not necessary to let it dry for 48 hours. one shot paint usually needs about 8 hours or overnight while house of kolor's needs about 1/2 hour. if your going to pinstripe directly on your basecoat you had better hope your a good enough striper to not make any mistakes because its undoable. if you were pinstriping some graphics for instance the proper procedure would be to clearcoat over the graphics then block sand the clear smooth, pinstripe then reclear. if you made any mistakes you can just wipe the striping paint off and redo. as for the basecoat window you need to follow the tech sheets but generally you shouldn't let the basecoat set for more than 24 hours
