Piston ring installation instructions missing

I am rebuilding a 292 Y block that is starting to make me think it is jinxed. Everything has gone wrong (had 3 sets of main bearings, TWO sets were the marked with the wrong size).

I am now fitting the nice new pistons and rings and lo and behold the statement on the piston ring box "detailed instructions inside" is wrong, there are none.

So, I have Grant P2119 rings, the three piece oil ring has a green and red tab on the center piece. Does anyone have instructions or the ability to provide an abridged version of them for me., I want to ensure I fit them correctly.

I did do a google search but came up empty handed.

Many thanks for any input,
Paul

Thanks guys, I have the rings on now but am unsure as to whether there are any specific details as to where the gaps should be. I know most rings need to have the various gaps offset form each other.

If this isn't critical I will just ensure they are all in different places.

Thanks again.

Do you have all the rings in the correct position? Are you 100% sure they are installed correctly?

Once the motor fires the rings will rotate in the bore anyway.

Thanks stroke, luckily the grease paper each set of rings were stored in had some brief details about which was the top/2nd ring etc and which way up so I am OK in that regard.

The fact they rotate anyway leads me to believe I just need to ensure the gaps are in different places and all should be fine.

Thanks again,
