i am having trouble installing my pitman arm. is there some special way or tool to install the pitman arm on the steering box. this is for a 73 nova.
thanks,
mike
If it is the right one, it should slip right on and tighten the nut good.

but when i am tightening my piut man arm it moves the steering wheel all the way to one side to where it will not go any further and i am afraid that tightening it more will break the steering box because it will be forcing it more in that direction when it is at it's max. i thought the pitman arm was supposed to be pressed on or something, it goes on about half way but then it is hard to push on the rest of the way. everything is new also.
thanks,
mike
Sounds like it is fitting alright, have someone hold the steering wheel. The steering wheel should be locked anyway.
torque to 140 lb. ft.
