Gents,

I am also in the process of looking for a plasma cutter. I am looking at this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT and wanted to know your thoughts on Hobart products. The reviews I have found have been positive.

Also, I know you can you use shop air (compressed air from a compressor) to cut with but after reading the attached article http://www.thefabricator.com/PlasmaC...le.cfm?ID=2135 I was wondering if the steel that I get from a local steel supply house is carbon steel or some other steel (I know very little about the different types of steel) and does using shop air with any type of steel make any later weld not as strong? Is it better to use oxygen instead of shop air?

Any feedback you guys can give me on the Hobart 400 and whether or not shop air weakens welds after you have cut an edge on shop air would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Brent
