As I have begun to repair a few more modern vehicles in my little hobby shop I am now getting into more plastic repairs. I came across the Motor Guard Magna Stitcher that goes on the end of your stud gun and basically heats different shaped staples into the backside of the part to provide structure. Then you make the cosmetic repair on the front side. I like the idea and the tool seems to work in the manufacturers video. But I can't find any reviews on the tool. I am wondering if anyone has any personal experience with this adapter to your stud gun.

I have a motorcycle fairing that needs structural help, wondering if this metal staple thing really works. Seems like a way better alternative to an attempt at fiberglassing the back side of the part.

Good to hear Brian, and I trust your opinion. I figured I would take a chance on a $100 tool to find out if it really works. I can see it really saving some sport bike fairings if the staples are actually structural.

Ordering the tool, will report back with some pictures etc.

We have that tool at work. I work on the paint side of the shop but the bodymen were backed up the other day so I helped with repairs. I had to fix a 6 in crack and I used that tool for the first time. Its tricky cause the stud gun is heavy and you have to hold still while the bumpers cool and the pins set. Once I got a couple to grab, I got the hang of it. I really liked how it worked and will def use it again.

Thanks for chiming in Naughty. Makes sense about the cooling time on the staple, this is will be something I will have to contend with too when repairing a motorcycle fairing. The fairing is off the bike and weighs very little.

I should have the tool by the end of next week, will take some photos of how it goes for me.
