I dont know about the welders, but...which kind of plastic will make a large difference. For example, urethane welded properely works essentially like metal, the piece becomes one again.
Certain plastics (the damn name escapes me), polypropelene etc. 'greasy' ones need surface conditioner so the materials stick.
