I bought and sold cars on the side for years... mostly collector Chevies. An older friend had been at this game much longer than me. He once told me that if you want to sell it... don't put any money in the car. Once you start down that road, the profits always go down.
I also custom paint for a living. It gets more expensive every year, and as one of the other guys said... a cheap paint job may hurt the sale in a couple different ways... wrong color... or the buyer may look at the paint quality, and figure he is going to have to pay for all new paint anyway.
It looks like the car might have been red originally, so if it is a resto guy thinking of buying, he will probably love that!
Financially, I would make sure it's running good, and driveable, then sell it as is.
