Please Guys Hellllllllp!!! Reward!!!!!!

OK, my cars posessed.......the space where the air goes thru below the intake has been filling up with oil for two years now. I have changed the gaskets, checked the intake for warpage and cracks, checked the valley pan(even though im still using the original 73 pan) checked the bolts,checked my valve covers to make sure theyre not leaking down INTO the damn thing....I cant figure out where the oil is coming from!! I had a couple mechanics look at her for me and they cant gimme an answer eitherr. My wife is *****ing because she leaks constantly (especially when hot..the car, not the wife )and Im at my wits end. I feel that im overlooking something simple. If you can help me I would be willing to send cash. Im not kidding.

Question:

Are you using an oil pressure gauge that taps into the block behind the Intake manifold? If that has a hole n the tubing, that may explain your oil problem.

But that would be on top of the intake manifold.,and you said underneath the intake manifold.

I believe that in the lifter valley, there is going to be oil.

73 what? What size engine?....you replaced what gaskets? please be more specific so that we can help you. Thanks.

if its a 73 engine with air gap intake? then there are 4 intake bolts threaded through ears in the head on either side. the othe side of the ears is the crank case. oil will actually wick up the threads of the bolts and leak out on intake. if you dont run a pcv valve the crankcase pressure will be higher and cause this problem to be worse. go to auto parst store and get a tube of non hardening sealer. pretty nasty crap but works like a champ. get holes and bolts clean and reinstall with sealer

B and RB Chryslers are very fussy here.

Reusing the valley cover is not really a good idea.
There are sealing ribs stamped into the valley cover to aid in sealing>>>>>
oil>>>>air>>>>>water.

These are a one time use cover.

Also----the sealing surfaces of the head and intake need to be true---and absolutely clean before install------I always used a bit of coppercoat on the both sides of the cover to help seal.

Your oil could very well be coming thru the intake ports.

Might also check the valve cover gaskets---maybe a leak in the top middle of the valve cover.

Since you failed to mention what engine it is, I will add to the other suggestions. Is your PCV plumbed in?? Do you have good breathers, if not?? I diagnosed an issue with an engine that someone had put after market valve covers on but hadn't knocked out the breather holes when they were installed. The engine leaked profusely and would quit when the pressure built up to a point. You could have too much crankcase pressure, created by a number of things including a poor ring seal.

I think we need to wait till he decides to tell us what engine he is working on as several different engines have valley pans separate from the intake.JMO.
