I'm just not having much luck lately painting some plastic pieces on my car. I had to rebase and reclear the parts, which I did today. The basecoat was dusted on and came out perfect. Let it flash then applied 2 wet coats of Spraymax 2K Rapid Cut clearcoat.

I live in Florida and it's REALLY hot outside even though I paint in an empty parking garage in the shade. The first coat of clear was perfect. Maybe I didn't allow it to flash long enough because the finish on my second coat of clear instantly wrinkled. Although the clear was sprayed wet I didn't have any runs.

Here's my dilemma....I sprayed the last coat of clearcoat about 2 hours ago. The clearcoat is a 2K aerosol spray can with a pot life of 12 hours or less. Here's the clearcoat I used: http://www.spraymax.com/index.php?id=360&L=1

The manufacturer's product info:

Spray passes:

1 - 2 (20 - 40 µm)
5 - 10 min intermediate flash off time between 2 spray passes depending on ambient temperature

Drying times:

20°C dust free: 7 min (drying grade 1 DIN 53150)
20°C tack free: approx. 1h (20µm)
approx. 2h (40µm)
(drying grade 3 DIN 53150)
20°C ready for polish: 8 - 9 h
IR drying recommended

Potlife:

Approx. 14 h @ 20°C.
The potlife depends on the ambient temperature. Higher temperatures give a shorter and lower temperatures give a longer potlife.

Ok so here is my question....when would it be safe to try wetsanding off the top bad layer of clearcoat and what grit should I use? After wetsanding should I spray more clear again? Also to extend the potlife of the clearcoat spray can, would it be possible to refrigerate it for the next few hours or so?

What grit is appropriate to wetsand wrinkles out of 2K clearcoat? I don't want to sand too hard but the wrinkles are not sanding out with 600 grit. How low of grit should I go?

Just read your thread and hope it is not to late. Is the clear coat foggy or white in color? I so maybe the humidity is to hi. Sanding with 600 hundred grit is as low as I would go. You may have activated the first coat of clear and it may also be part of the crazing. The spray bomb should be good for a couple of days. Turn it upside down and spray for about three seconds to clear the nozzle.
