do a little reading . Get a simple book on basic electricity. It will help you understand the terms and defenitions of basic circuits ( series, parallel etc.) and things like types of switches Normally open normally closed single pole single throw SPST etc. Important stuff. Basic electricity . get the book and read it. Also buy a decent quality 12 volt test light and a DVOM with an internal resistance of 1 meghohm or greater.Learn where to use the voltmeter ohmeter and where to use the test light and why.Very important on computer controlled cars

My advice

You can not have too many grounds.

Make sure the engine, frame and body are all tied together with multiple grounds.

AND

Learn the use of relays for your heavy draw items like headlights, air compressors, Etc.
