Could you please identify this Chevy inline six? I was told it is a 292 but it does not look right.

Thanks if you can help.

Hi,
That is a 235 ci. Blue Flame,
it could be a 265 ci BF. but I
doubt it.

Stovebolt 6.

What year is the truck? If it's the original engine, and based on the dual master cylinder for the brakes/hydraulic clutch; makes it early-mid sixties; so, 235 or 261 is my guess. 292 is a different style engine, same as 194, 230, 250; just "taller".

Pickup is advertised as a 1963 3/4 ton 4X4 with a 4 speed and divorced transfer case. Ad states it is a 292. I believe it is a 1962 model by the engine and the fact that the fender emblem is a 1962.

Not sure I want it if the engine is a 235 or 261.

I was going to say it might be a 235. If it runs and is a 235 and you don't want it....let me know. The 235 is a pretty good engine IMHO. Don't know how long Chevy used the 235 but don't think it went up to 63.
