It's a 1938 Ford, looks like it is a 4 door sedan from the picture. Not the most popular of the 30's Fords but I always liked them. If it was here $2300 seems a bit much in my book for a non-running, rough looking, primerd 4 door missing chrome BUT it's not here, it's over there.

Exactly - imagine that we are in middle of europe and to buy an US car (like rod or custom) for reasonable price is almost impossible. We can get it from Germany or US and that cost a lot of money and time. Thank you

If its in as good of shape as it looks it is not a bad price. Over here you will not see people get as excited over it being a four door. Over here we can just as easily get a more desirable model - coupe..two door... (for more $$) but we have a choice. But over there if U.S. metal is rare then they are not over charging. Esp if you consider shipping!
If you like the body style than its a good deal. Like any project its going to cost so you better pick a model you want because when it is 75% done with all the money spent it is the wrong time to dislike the body style. |

It is actually a 39. A 39 Standard. You can tell by the chrome strips on the door are below the body line. You can tell in the back because the rear of the body is exactly as a 39 Deluxe or a 40 coupe. The 38 rear body is like a 37 with 37ish fenders and a smaller deck lid.

You know the reason why I know a little about the 39 Standard is my brother had one, just like the black coupe I posted.
A couple of faqs, the 39 Standard has the same cowl as the 38, yet the same back half as a 40. You can NOT put 39 Deluxe sheet metal on the front of a 39 Standard body. You can put 40 Standard or Deluxe sheetmetal on a 39 Deluxe. The rear of the 38 Deluxe (and standard) are the same and TOTALLY different than the 39 Standard. The sedans are the same I think, come to think of it. But the coupes are totally different. 1939 Deluxe 1940 Deluxe 1940 Standard. One difference between the 1940 Standard and the 1939 Deluxe is that the wipers are on the roof of the 39 and the cowl on the 40. And of course the 39 has an opening windshield (last year for it) and no vent windows. The door glass having a little "vent" at the front when you partially roll it down. This feature is on Fords from 34-39. Brian |

IMartin, I was comparing the grille shapes on the 2 - 38s, they are very similar. Is one a deluxe, the other a standard? The shape of the grille by the hood opening is close but a bit different hood louvers on the pic you posted.

Now, if you are talking about the 39 in post number 7 and the 38 in post number 8, those are totally different as well. Look how the side of the upper grille ends in a tear drop shape at the chrome moulding, while the 38 is straight vertical. The lower half the grille, is the same (maybe) other than the 39 has holes for the chrome moulding.
