Please, Need Advice On Buying Wrecked 97 Honda Civic Asap

I have found a 1997 honda civic HX and it has been wrecked, the person who has it hasnt got it checked out, the only visible damage is a litle scrape on the bumper, not sure if the frame is bent, does anyone know if it was posible to bend the frame? i know that some are back pretty far and wont bend, it hit the ditch going not very fast, and it has LOTS of aftermarket parts, and i was just wondering if it was worth buying for $650 it runs great and looks great accept for the scrape THANKS

I think the (frame) is part of the body. Unit-body. Does it drive? See if it will go down the road strait.

have someone drive behind you to see if it has a dog-leg. If it drives well, it's probably ok though. A scratch ain't nuthin. Does it pull to one side? Drive it to a local Honda shop and pay a mechanic 25 bucks to look it over.

The HX is made for fuel mileage. The auto trans in these are weak. The standard trans is geared high for fuel mileage but is fine. The bumper covers can be replaced pretty easy.If you are looking for a fast Honda this is not the one to get unless you do an engine swap.Like others have said, I would pay someone to put it up on a rack to take a look at it.

Well, he said that he drove it home from the wreck and it did drive ok, i looked at the pics and I dont think it is bent because it didnt even knock the car out of alignment, and i would think if it hit hard enough to bend the frame that it would have knocked the car out of alignment. Does anyone agree?

I agree. For the price it sounds fine. Can't go wrong with a Honda.

Worst case you have a awesome $600 Alabama mud buggy! Thats what I did with my old honda. You would be amazed at what those lil FWD cars will do in the mud!
