plug on heads

can anyone tell how too remove the plug on the side of head i am having a hell of a time need too install a heat sensor, is there a special socket i can buy to remove?

It's likely an 11/32" square drive. Snap On and others sell them (shown below), or you can make one from a 1/2" drive to 3/8" drive adapter by grinding the 3/8" end down to fit the pipe plug.

I've always used a torch to heat the cast iron around the plug before removing, but you might get yours out w/o heat.

wow my plug does not look like that, its on a elderbock head its square head that sticks out
