it would be a points ignition system with fresh points the coil is only about a year old along with the cab but i will check for wear and carbon tracking along with problems with the plug wires

You didn't mention anything about the condenser. I always replace them with the points. I know some guy's say you can check them but let's face it, at the price of one, why not? I toss the used one and get new.

i all ways buy the points kit so it comes with one probably should have mentioned that i keep spares in the glove box to iv had em let me down before lol

Looks like a good place for spark arc. not to mention the wire being stressed by th 180* turn on the connector.

Given a points ignition, I'd say 12,000 miles an a set of plugs is damn good.

That location and bend in the wire could very well cause your intermittent miss fire. If you fix that and it cures the missing, I would say your good to go.

What's with that tower cap on the cable? Is it going all the way down over it?
I can't tell if it's half way down or what. Pic is a little fuzzy. You don't have it on backwards do ya? cap to coil.

70 catalina... im 6'3 not that big of a stretch. rides smoother then a new Cadillac she dont take corners the best though... but my dad bought it for me when i passed my drivers test when i was 16 about 4 years ago... i hope to get it painted this winter.. sounds great with the set of magnaflow duels to...
