plugs wet with oil???
the plugs in my SBC are all wet with oil. Where can it be coming from? Past the rings, down the valve stems, or??

ither 1, are you getting blue smoke out the tailpipe?

it could be either one... do a compression test or a leakdown test to see if one of the rings are broken or worn. is it all of the plugs? or just 1 or what? freshly rebuilt engine or an older one?

Blue smoke on starting only. All plugs are wet. Engine was rebuilt just a few hundred miles ago, but the heads and valvetrain were not touched...how would I check for leakage down the valve stems?

its the valve stems. Depends how much you care about solving the problem, more than likely little or no oil is actually getting consumed in your 3000 mile intervals. As long as your valves are sealing ok at teh seat (i.e. a decent compression test) you should be ok. Just get to it when you can.
