points type coil wiring

do you wire the coil with the wire from dist to pos or neg

The wire from the distributor goes to the negative side of the coil if you have a negative ground system.

thanks i have a 66 327 sbc old points type dist rebuilt motor. trying to get running. set timing getting fire at points and plugs. just wont fire up.
