Poly 318?

my uncle recently purchased a 1966 Bellvadere which he was told that it had a poly 318 in it. what makes the differences in this engine? is it in the heads?if it is what?, like the heads off a larger engine or hemi heads?

The Poly was something of a cost-cutting measure, being as how the Hemi was a complicated bit o' work to manufacture and assemble, plus it made for a wide engine at the top end and was heavy.

To answer these issues, the Poly was introduced. The design actually isn't a bad one, IMHO.
