Question pontiac 400 to a 305 chevy

I have a 67 pontiac 326 with a 400 trans. I am looking around for a 350 chevy to go into my 51 GMC pickup. I have run across a man who wants to trade me my tranny for a 71 350 engine. What I need to know is: Will that tranny of mine bolt up to his 305 because that is the terms of the trade. If it will work he wants to trade, if not...still looking....

No, pontiac trans will not bolt to a SBC. The poncho block is bigger and has a different bolt pattern.

Some tranys had the double bolt patterns you can check for the extra bolt holes in the housing.
