I have a mid mileage 1972 pontiac 400 engine its currently in a 1972 lemans its a tire burner as it is but i would like to know some budget tips for pontiac engines as i am a chevy guy more or less. I already figured a four barrel intake,cam etc. but does anyone know how high an engine like this will rev? I've taken my chevy 355 to over 7000 rpm alot and have had no adverse affects but I've heard pontiacs don't like to rev and any head that's got the siamesed exuast ports are junk. But i find that hard to belive the way it runs right now even with the 2 barrel carb and factory cam. Maybe someone knows of a good pontiac website? any help would be welcomed thanks.

No Pontiac's don't like to Rev high they are torquers

My 71 LeMans would do 135 MPH + with more Go pedal left

with the stock 350 2 bbl 3:73 rear single exhaust on 195 /75 R14's

6X heads 4 bbl & cam it out just before solid lifters & dual exhaust then drive the hell out of it.

Its Faster than a speeding ticket but are you?

Look for some good heads and have them worked on that will give your car that get up and go power your looking for. www.wallaceracing.com has good info on Pontiac engines.

And best of all a Chev will slide right in if you find you're not fond of Pontiac engines. It takes a lot more money to make good power with a Pontiac usually, every part is more expensive than the bowtie stuff.
