pontiac 400 crank in a 455?

Will a 400 crank fit a 455? I think the journal dia. is differant can you get bearings to fit ? also would this help much for a bit more revs or would i be better off going for the torque monster? with the 3.75 in stroke and the big bore my desktop dyno seems to like it but would this make enough differance to justify the extra effort over the 455 build? thanks for all your help.

the 400 crank will NOT fit in the 455 block. the 400 has 3" mains and the 455 has 3.25" mains. i would recommend contacting Kauffman Racing Equipment (KRE). you can look them up online. they specialize in building killer pontiac engines. they have all kinds of rotating assemblies to choose from. that is where i am gonna buy my next stroker kit for my 400.

Actually, the 400 crank will fit - just really, really loose with a whole lotta room around the 3" bearings - just kidding. Most people would probably trade you two 400 crank/block assemblies for your 455, and that should tell you something. Regardless of what the computer program says, cubes rule. Writers always put down the 455 as being inefficient with its bore/stroke ratio, but in real life, it kicks butt. Notice that the stroker kit for the 455 is now the hot ticket. This makes an even worse ratio, but it works great.
