pontiac 455 or rocket 455

Which engine do you guys think has the most performance potential

i'd say the pontiac 455. theres much more performance parts for the pontiac compared to the olds motor

engine choice

I believe each sits in the engine compartment differently. One is higher the other is wider. I would base my decision on the vehicle I was planning on putting it in. Cubes is cubes.

I love them Odds-mo-piles, but the Pontiac does have more speed stuff out there.. If cost wasn't the major factor I would build the Olds just to be different...

definitely the olds. i was just lookin at the parts aspect of the deal... if hes got the money then definitely do the olds.

Obvious

The olds is better - only because I have one in my '72 Cutlass! Just kidding.

Actually I don't know what kind of performance potential there is. Mondello has done some amazing things with olds motors.

There is more aftermarket coming out for the olds though. Edelbrock now makes aluminum heads that are reasonably priced.

PONTIAC 455 has so much torque......I would definetely go with a Pontiac good luck finding one

I've built both. I'd give the pontiac a slight advantage due to the parts issues. It's been 20 years since I've messed with pontiacs and 10 years since I've built an olds motor so things might have changed as far as parts go. In the end I'd keep themotor the make as the car.
