pontiac distributor question

on my 75 firebird 400 the hei stator/pickup died should i replace this part or get a different dist this one i have now is a reman unit has like 8 years an only like 45miles on it.i was also looking at this Mallory dual point dist my friend is trying to get me to buy for $60 but idk

New HEI's are comparatively cheap....STAY AWAY from Mallory dual point.

Whatever you get, be sure to verify it's a PONTIAC distributor -- they spin opposite of a Chevrolet's.

A chevy distributor wont fit in a Pontiac engine.

I'd suggest the OP rebuild the distributor with the correct parts, a Dual Point is old(1960's) technology
