pontiac firebird

my friend has a 91 pontiac firebird with the original engine. is it a pontiac engine or a chevy engine?

It can be any of the engines that i have listed below.
151 cu in (2.5 L) Pontiac I4
173 cu in (2.8 L) "X" V6
191 cu in (3.1 L) "X" V6
231 cu in (3.8 L) Buick Turbo V6
305 cu in (5.0 L) Chevrolet V8
350 cu in (5.7 L) Chevrolet V8.

nice. and we're in the process of planning the build for his 305. he wants to get around 250 hp and keep it on 87 octane. i can't find where on here i'd look up that. so i guess it'll just be posted on here. can you give us any advice on a build? we've got a running 305 at the moment, but we are going to do different heads (the tbi heads suck) a new cam, a street dominator intake (it's what he's got lying around) and whatever else needs to be done

i know everybody is going to say get a 350, but i'd really like to keep the 305 and just build that up

The rebuild kits are cheaper for a 350. The machine work cost the same.

Doesent really mater if it's the original engine. You are not adding any value to the car. It's not a collector car.

yes we are sure it is the original engine with all the factory parts. and i know a 350 rebuild kit is cheaper, but we are sticking with the 305

The reason i ask if it was orginal to the car is to be sure what engine he actually had .
