Pontiac le mans ----> GTO clone?

1966 le mans. 2 door. 350/350 combo.

Is this car worth cloning? The car i found need alot of work! but i like the GTO's so i was thinking of cloning this car. Even to the point of replacing the tail lights with the GTO 3 strip tail lights.

here are some gto pictures: NOT THE CAR I AM BUYING

I love these taillights

There are too many GTO clones out there, be different build it as a LeMans, the '66's were cool in their own right and you never see them any more. You'll get a lot more respect from the Pontiac guys too. JMHO

Have to agree, a well done LeMans will get you more respect from the Poncho guys and no one says you can't stick a 389 with 3 deuces in there either.

Yep...do the Lemans. Take a look at Bullheimers. If you have a Lemans you can make it look like a Goat but leave the tailights alone.

I have a 66' Lemans that I am adding a GTO hood and Grilles to, but I do not try to pass it off as a GTO. I will not remove the tail lights and add GTO lights. I am building a motor/tranny combo for it that will run like a GTO as well. To me it's my hot rod not a muscle car. I plan to build the car the way I like it and not to please anyone else. I have had several people call it a GTO even though it had nothing saying GTO on it and I will correct them. The guys in the poncho crowd know what it is. It it was a GTO I would have a different plan of attack on the way I build it, but since it isn't, I'm having fun with it!!!!

I agree, be different, leave it a LeMans. It would be really cool to have a OHC 6 in it!

If you want a clone go to Switerland.

Yea People make big bucks cloning this that & the other thing & sometimes they cost & sell for more than the original.

Me I personally dont see it.

MHO.
