Pontiac Powerglide shifter

Ok...my project 67 Malibu w/ a powerglide is in need of a floor shifter...I've been hunting for shifters on ebay...I've been toying with the idea of a QuarterStick, or a factory shifter. The other day I found a LeMans powerglide shifter; at the same time found out it is a cable operated shifter...

...here is my question....will the pontiac shifter be a viable replacement for the chevrolet powerglide shifter? (providing of course the cable is available.)

With a couple of exceptions, Pontiac did not use the Powerglide, they used the Super Turbine 300. Completely different two speed trans. Having said that, the trans doesn't care what shifter is has, so long as the cable motion turns into the right rotational motion at the selector shaft on the trans. If necessary, you can modify the arm on the selector shaft to change the lever arm and thus tweak the rotational motion generated by this shifter.
