Pontiac rear end swap
will the posi unit out of a early 80's 10 bolt out of a trans am fit into a 82 10 bolt in a Pontic wagon?

http://www.oldsmobility.com/10bolt-tech.htm has ID info for various GM rear ends. You're probably dealing with one of the 8.5" or 7.5" units. See which one(s) you have. If both are the same size, the posi unit will probably fit, but you have to make sure it's compatible with your gear ratio. Each design had two different carrier "series", depending on what gear ratio they were used with. Higher ratio gears tend to have the ring gear closer to the centerline of the pinion gear, and the ring gear flange position is how they differ.
