Post Pontiac tranny swap

I have been shifting my 34 year old ST300 manually since I've owned it and I think the valve body is DOA. I have a 68 Le Mans w/ a new 400 cid and I want to swap over to a TH350 or 400 trans. Will I have to cut a new drive shaft or will the old one work? What about crossmember placement? Thanx

GM made a short shaft and a long shaft or tial TH-400. The TH-350 and the short shaft TH-400 are the same lengths. You shouldn't have much of a problem for the drive shafts with either one of those. The long shaft you would need to have a driveshaft swap. The position of the crossmember on the trans is the same for all. Good Luck.

A TH350 will swap right in and use your existing driveshaft and yoke as the output shafts are the same. If you switch to a short shaft TH400 you will definitely have to change the yoke on the front of your driveshaft, but you might also have to change the crossmember. I'm not positive on that part though. I know for a fact I had to change my corssmember in my 69 Firebird when I went from the ST300 to the TH400.
