Post Poor boy question

If i shave .035 of the heads and use a .015 head gaskets on my 400 small block chevy how much do i have to take off the intake? Trying to build a cheap motor!

Ask a machine shop.There may be more than just hackin 40thousanths off the bottom involved.They may have to mill the head side of the intake.Theyll probably want the heads to match it up and take measurements. Ive never had expieriance w/ a 400 but Im not sure if milling the heads is a good idea w/ the steam holes and all just a thought. Goodluck

why not angle mill the heads and use thicker intake gaskets(mr gasket used to make them)angle milling takes more off the exhaust side where the chamber is deepest and reduces the angle of the valves this is a double benifit and doesn't require manifold milling
