Has anyone else been plagued by pop ups the last couple of days?.....My Yahoo pop up blocker is on, have run Adaware, Norton scan etc, but I keep getting them.

Nope, had no problem so far. I get too many unwanted emails though. Some ar even in spanish which I can't read.

Both browsers will import all your bookmarks so you don't have to worry about that

Oh, and yahoo toolbar is known to have adware in it already, so do yourself a favor and dump it for the google toolbar if you are inclined to keep your internet explorer.

Now pop-unders are really starting to hack me off Seriously, what's the point in popping a new window under the one I'm currently viewing? I close them out without even looking at the content, defeating their purpose anyway

Gonna try the Google bar....had Firefox before, but it hampered my ability to add attachements to my web based mail, so I went back to IE.....might try it again though.

If it's been a while since you used firefox, it's up to version 1.5 now and they have fixed a lot of the compatibility problems like the one you had. I still suggest you try it again, and if you do still have issues, the google toolbar should do the trick.

Another great app is spyware blaster. Once it is installed, all you have to do is run it & it prevents spyware from getting on your computer. It's updated weekly. It blacklists thousands of sites so they cannot access your computer to put cookies, pop-ups, or anything on your hard drive.

For example, it has no issue with you browsing somerandomblogger.com, but it won't let any spyware from installspywarefromanotheradvertisingsite.com. Note, however, that it cannot remove items, but once it's up nothing gets through.

nothing gets in here nothing
no spam
no pop ups
no scams
unless your address is in my address book it doesn't come here it goes to "suspect mail" on their browser and I can open it there if i want

if spam shows up there i can block it and send it to earthlink and they cut it at the source

I haven't had pop-ups, I've been getting all kinds of spam e-mail the last few days. I don't know if it's better to delete them or block the sender.

If I get spam in y suspect mail box I see if there is a Unsubscribe link then block the sender which automatically sends a report to earthlink and it never come back
problem is they get your E and have so many domains so it might take awhile to get through the gauntlet
also my suspect is set to purge weekly so they wont build up

Having all kinds of trouble with Yahoo. I have "My Yahoo" as home page. Many times when I start IE, I get that it can't find page, Yahoo mail sme thing. I then go to another site like HR.com or some thing and it loads good every time. I then go back to a Yahoo site and it will usually load then....but not always......This has been happening for about a month.

Now, in the last week all these damn popups have started showing up. I have downloaded another popup blocker that seems to work, but I have to manually tell it not to allow a popup the 1st time it shows up... I guess I will eventually get them all.

I am just about ready to restore my computer back to factory settings......Driving me nuts..................and it's a SHORT drive.

Most annoying little things.
If anyone has a popup blocker and is still getting them, then they are not coming in from the web, they are coming from an Adware program installed on your computer. The last one I had activated every time I logged on to ebay.

Open - Control Panel - add/remove programs. The complete list of programs loaded on your computer will be shown. Study them carefully to see if there is one or more you don't recognise, if you are lucky it will be there. If you are unlucky it will be lodged in the Registry and more difficult to find and remove.

Adware programs don't just give popups, they send all the information on your machine back to base, and the really dangerous one's record your key strokes and discover your passwords, credit card numbers etc.

And to those who use a Yahoo tool bar, Yahoo installs the same kind of program for their own information about what you are doing. And to those who like to download these freebies I would say "there is no such thing as a free lunch"

I'm no puter geek but that sounds like that sony rookit crap

some kind of spyware that takes all your info & sends it back to sony & all you have to do to get it is play a CD or DVD from sony

Go to www.TrendMicro.com ..Then click on Free tools on the top, Online Virus scan.

On the on line Choices, It will ask, Virus, ADware,spyware,malware removal scan, Choose the Spyware / Adware (at least first,) and let it run.

It's slower than molasses in February, takes about 1/2 hour..but it will ID like (in my case..and this is on a BRAND NEW hard drive) 500 adware/spywares..then it will instruct you to remove them..with their system, right on line.

You can then go back and do a virus scan, If you want...It too is slow takes about an hour..but It has never let me down...

You may have to shut off the pop~up blocker, and if you have one, firewall to run the scans.
