Pops/flame from exhaust
When changing down at higher RPMs and decelerating (throttle closed), I get quite a few pops and bangs with flames/flashes coming from my exhaust. I actually love this! However, is it indicative of a problem that needs to be addressed? What causes it? I can only assume it's unburnt fuel in the exhaust that is getting ignited by the heat of the exhaust? Why does it only occur when the throttle is shut when decelerating? I do know I've got a v.slight exhaust leak where the sidepipes meet the headers, so this could be a factor?
Engine is a 500hp 383 sbc.

Air leaking into the exhaust causes it, fix it or you will have issues later with blown mufflers or pipes coming apart or balloning.
Looks cool but ain't.
