Port shape for closed chamber 3856206 heads

I'm trying to replace the flange gasket on my 3856206 heads. They are oval ports according to the Internet off a 1965 396, the exhaust port looks square to me? Is this possible? If so could it be oval intake square exhaust ?

All the BBC heads have square-ish shaped exhaust ports. When talking Oval or Rectangular(Square) port in reference to BBC heads they are talking about the intake port only as all the BBC exhaust ports have a square shape.

Only exception is the rare L-88/ZL-1 Aluminum heads with round exhaust ports.

What gaskets should I use ? The Hedman web page offers both round and square and the square ones appear to match better then the round ones ? I took off the old gaskets and the indentation around the round gaskets is that square type of " big block" oval
