The ported vacuum outlet is the one on the side near the site plug . There is no vacuum at idle, only as you accelerate does this pull vacuum. Put you vacuum gauge on that port and rev the engine - thats when you will see vacuum, and thats when it will pull your advance --- as you accelarate, exactly when you need it . You dont need any other ports for this. One for your PCV if useing one and the larger for power brake booster .DO NOT HOOK YOUR VAC ADVANCE UP TO NORMAL VACUUM--- this will cause the idle to race and really run flat, because your advance is all in at idle-- not as you accelarate.
Dont try to many things at one time or you may wind up worse off than when you started.Some cars do run better with out the vacuum advance --is yours one of those cars ??? It sounds like you need to dial in the carb as well as the timing. Just the basic stuff dont go to far off track .
