I've been a Milwaukee fan for years, and I lent my old one (12 Volt)to my Wife for something she needed to do at work-I couldn't find it after she took it, and guess who was blamed? She was (isn't it great to win one once in a while?
)-anyways, I went out and bought a new Miwaukee 1/2" drive 18 Volt, (wasn't aware of the 24 Volt), and, I really love it-has way more torque than I expected, although it does weigh a bit more than my old one)-here's the one I bought-it does appear to have the Lion Batteries, but has been good so far- http://www.toolbarn.com/product/milwaukee/2610-24/ And, the irony? I found my old Drill-guess who paid for that in the end?

You actually told her that you found the old one?? After her humiliation? You really do need some counseling about deviant behavior ascribed to by normally loving husbands !! Dave W |

Was that one with NiCad batteries? Just before I sold my shop one of the guys there had a Milwaukee impact wrench and he would recharge his batteries at the end of every day regardless of whether they were completely run down or not. These were the NiCad batteries and as you said he was going through them quite fast but the problem was the recharging, a NiCad needs to be completely (or nearly so) discharged before recharging because of the memory effect. If someone tries to keep a battery (NiCad) topped off by recharging after use whether the battery is down or not then short battery life will result, not saying this is what happened to yours but this is a common problem with NiCads. |

Apparently I have sadistic tendencies I thought about not telling her, but when she finds out (and, knowing her she would), words cannot explain the years of humiliation I would suffer

Well at least my new Bosch cordless wasn't made in China - but in Malaysia instead
. We'll see soon enough if it's any good.Dave W |

I was looking at a hydraulic motor a couple of days ago and on the back end of the thing was an American flag emblem that covered at least 1/3 of the end surface and under it in small letters were the words "made in China"!

One more tool bit the dust yesterday - my oldie but goody US made B&D jigsaw went belly up in the cess pool of life!! This prompted me to get on the internet and see what was available - they ain't cheap any longer. I ended up ordering a Bosch 1587. If this is as good a tool as my new Bosch cordless drill and my 3/8" Bosch corded drill, I'll be happy. But another $100+ for another tool that has just plain died of old age is killing my budget - particularly since we just bought a new (to us) RV and I needed a 5th wheel hitch to work with my bed mounted gooseneck hitch. I guess someone has to help the "stimulus package" Dave W |
