POS 92 topaz tranny growl

Hi There,
looking for some help with the ol ladies grocery getter. I know it aint a hot rod, but I was wondering what the history of this 92 topaz 2.3 l 4 cyl/auto was. It has 225,000 km and it seems like either the tranny or diff is experiencing some light surging feeling at hiway speeds and bit of a growl coming off a dead stop. I suspect the clutches are just about gone...anyone else have experience with these? thanks and sorry for polluting the board with non hotrod stuff.

I worked on the original ATX program and know the insides of that tranny pretty well. I am amazed it lived to 225K. It was originally designed for 1.6L and needed a major upgrade to live with 2.3L.

When it quits, just take the license plates off of it and have a junkyard take it. It sure doesn't owe you anything.
