hi guys,I would like to know how to change my 1968 ford 8 inch rearend too a posi setup

Jack up car. Pull axles. Drain rear end. Remove center section. Purchase aftermkt posi unit. Have a drivetrain specialist install unit/bearings/gears into the center section. Re-install into vehicle and you have posi..

Another possibility is to replace the entire rearend, housing and all, for a rearend having a limited slip differential already in it. Depending on what you are working on, there are heavier duty rearends for some vehicles (like the 9" Ford) that are a bolt-in replacement for the 8" Ford.

When doing either swap (just the diff or the whole rearend), you may want to consider changing the gear ratio if the original ratio is lacking. There will never be a better time. Also might as well plan on replacing the axle bearings and seals and rebuild the brakes while everything is apart anyway. And what about those old, crusty U-joints...
