position of residual valve?

On a disc/drum brake system, does it make a difference where the residual valve is positioned? Should it be before the adjustable proportioning valve near the master cyclinder? Does it need to be at the lowest point of the system and can it be either horizontal or vertical? Thanks, Tom.

Hey,

They say Below the horizontal plain of the wheel cyl. or caliper, r-drum or f-caliper or any combination of the two, but some MC's had them built in to the rear brake circuit, way higher than the H-plain so.....
Also as close to the MC as possible.
Don't know of any reason why you couldn't mount it vertical, but I'm not sure, I would probably mount it horizontal.
The rear proportioning valve gets mounted in-between the RPV and wheel cyl./caliper.

i put it after the prop valve. as long as the flow arrow is correct the position or height won't mater. it is a spring loaded valve, it will work any position.
