Positioning Relays

I will be starting the task of wiring my Pro street Nova. I have several relays for various items.I would like to make a panel under my dash board to mount them all together for a better look. The dash is removable so they would be next to my Ignition box and coil. I guess my question is would they work ok there or do they work better by the componet they are controlling? Thanks in advance for your help. I am sure I will have Q's as I make progress. Mitch

Ideally they work better near the component they are controlling for one reason. The heavier wire is much shorter which eliminates voltage drop and ultimately delivers more current to the device. For convenience they are usually placed together in an easily accessible place though.
