Doc's right. Don't give out all of your info. Money is one thing but identity theft is another. Not that this guy isn't on the up and up, but with a copy of the title, he can have another made and you just stole his car. With your bank account info, he just cleaned you out. And with using an anonymous e-mail mailer (there are programs out there) he could look like he is from Ozland but in all actuality, he could be just around the corner from you. You have to decide on your own to what degree of trust you want to stop at. Personally, I would want his phone number and spend a few bucks and talk to him on the phone. Secondly, if he can PayPal you the deposit, he can PayPal the rest of the money. Or as someone stated, a cashiers check by snail mail. It sounds as if he doesn't trust you but you are supposed to trust him. Scams happen this way everyday. You are selling and he wants to buy. Put the burden of trust on his shoulders and if he wants it so badly then he will have to trust you. Anytime that you make deals over the internet, things can get iffy. And if you don't sell items like this on a regular basis, then you don't have the knowledge as to what can go wrong. And if you ship it overseas, and the deal goes sour, then is he going to ship the car back to you? I very seriously doubt it. And even if you hold the title until he gets the car and you get the rest of the money....well he wanted a copy of the title to begin with, so what would keep him from having a duplicate made? And would you travel to Australia at your expense to get things straightened out? You wouldn't know where to start.
If he wants the car so badly, then supply him with any picture that he wants. Remember.....you are the one that advertised it for sale. He did not advertise as wanting to buy a Mustang convert. Supply him with any picture, get a deposit, let him make the shipping arrangements, if you have to show that you have a clean title, then get an attorney to make up a legal letter stating the title is clean, get the rest of the money, a drop off the car wherever it needs to be shipped from. You are selling, you should not have to do all of the legwork that goes along with it. Once all of the money clears, then you can send him the title and the car will arrive shortly after that. It's no different than on EBay. If you send a personal check, they hold off shipping for ten days until the check clears, then you get the merchandise.

Well Ive done this before and your right it is on you checks an it is how you tranfer funds from one account to anouther but I not sure if it workes the same way over there now the guy is telling you if you don't feel wright he's willing to do paypal. I don't see anything missleading in that.The other thing you can do is go down to you bank and show them the e-mail and ask them if this is correct. you still got a ton of detail tell you get to that point. He's still got a lot of question about the car I would working on that first . I would tell him I want to make sure you happy first with what you see and then we can talk money shipping I think I would ask him if he is going to have anyone inspect the car. to back up your clams. in the mean time you can check with the bank call custom so on an so Don't let this guy rush you. So slow down take it step by step. Go to the customs web site talk to your bank get inform before you talk to this guy. yea its a deal not tell the fat lady sings.

Ok I read the complete deal.
One I would not do the shipping he has got to arrange it.
If he has the vin he can have it check out there are company that do title search Or you can got down to the DMV and have them do one and he could see the print out and could problem tell about sell a car to a foreign buyer
but not a good copy of the title.
and last all that has to be done at custom be for they will release it to be ship anyway.
I would never give your license out. I'm sure custom can solve a lot of you concerns and so could you bank.
So if you think about it you have a lot of hoop to jump through before you do any thing else
1. call customs
2.talk to your bank
3.talk to the dmv
4. set up the deal so you feel good about what you doing. it you car its you terms.

The engine I'll have to run the numbers on again tomorrow. I caught that "302" after I took the pictures but didn't have a chance to e-mail you back. It has been a year since I ran the numbers, and I thought it was a 289, but I guess I'm not so sure now.
The engine as I said on the phone, is just what I picked up a while back. I haven't tinkered with it at all to see if it runs or not......... MY intentions were to rebuild it anyway so I didn't care to check it over.

The extra parts laying on the ground in one of the pictures are all parts that came with the car. The only things you really need out of all of it is the tranny bracket, the bumper brackets, the flat "skid plate" looking piece that is some type of support on coverts only, the radiator and the front spring covers..... all of the other parts are extra!
The reason I have two extra doors, a fender and a trunk lid is because when I bought the car, it didn't have a hood on it, and I had to buy all of those extra parts in order to get the hood........ If you'll notice, all of the extra parts are from a "blue" car.

What I have noticed that the car is missing are the hood hinges, the honeycomb front grill, the wiper arms, the 6 chrome pieces that surround the rear tail lights,the chrome trim that attaches to the body around the top opening (towards the rear), the front bumper and the gas cap......... all of which can be had for not much money.

The top is all there and did work when I bought it, because I watched the previous owner hook up a battery and work the top up and down.

BTW, I did a search on your e-mail just to make certain that YOU are legit before I continued working with you (just checking, you can never be too sure), and found some pictures of your Mustang.... And I must say, you do EXCELLENT work! That is one beautiful car!

Aaron, I'm really happy to proceed with the purchase. We're just playing that cautious games with each other, and rightly so. It's funny, I give people my bank account details all the time (we all seem to in Australia) cuz without all the login username/password data you just can't access bank accounts. The account info is only any good to you, if you are to deposit money. Still, I respect what you say and I'll work with you. I'm trying to think how to best get the money to you in the most expedient manner. Are you OK so far with 10% to start and the balance when ready to ship - or do you want me to send the whole amount up front?

I can pay for the shipping seperately if it's causing you financial grief, it just seemed easier to me was all, just one payment from my perspective.

Yes, please let me know about the engine size. Please also let me know the VIN Numbers. It should read like 7R3 C xxxxx. The only things for me that will sour the deal a little and make me think twice is if the VIN turns out to be a T-Code meaning it was built as a 6 Cyl, but you said it was a factory V8 so it should at least be a C Code if not a K or S. All are OK, if not a T-Code.

I guess I just need to clarify with you if you're OK with deposit and then balance or if you really want the whole payment up front ? I would like to see the clear title and engine fitted into the car and know about the brakes before I send the full payment through. I'm sure you know what I mean.

We'll no doubt have several emails back and fourth until we get comfortable. No hard feelings either way, I wouldn't want that.

I think I can work with you on the 10% payment deal, But after I receive final payment, I might have to wait 10 days before shipping if you send a cashiers check. I can certainly understand you wanting to see the title and engine/parts in the car before final payment, and I will keep you informed on the progress of the title and installing of the engine etc.
It might take a couple of weeks for the title to go through and I've got to make the breaks work and get the engine in, which shouldn't be a big deal, but I might just have to set the engine down in the engine bay and tie it down with rope.. or I would have to buy motor mounts, which are about $30 each.......... and I'm here to tell you, I don't have $60 to spare! LMAO!
So how will this work? you send $450, I take care of the title, engine, parts... I send you pictures of the title and the ready to ship car and you send the final payment?

OK, I'll off the $450 deposit. If it works out easier for you to mount the engine with new engine mounts, just buy them and I'll pay for them in the final payment. It's gonna take me until next week (today, now is Good Friday 14th April at 7:30pm - we just ate fish for dinner) until the banks are even open again. This country STOPS for Easter. I'll ask the bank to raise a cheque for USD$450.00 made payable to you. I'll investigate the bank paying directly to Western Union or something and having the cheque raise raised in the USA. I dunno, I'll figure it out later, but certainly I'll get payment to you. Whatever I do, I'll do the same thing for final payment, when you're ready. There is no real urgency other than since we agree - I want to car... you know. It'll take 3 months in the discount shipping I use to get here.

I understand about the wait for the title and the whole getting the engine in thing, it's all fine, just keep me advised so I don't feel left out there wondering what's happening. No different than you would want. By then I'll have a reponse back from the trucking company and I'll pay them and give you a contact number to call when ready etc. So yes, when you send the pics and title of ready to ship I'll arrange the final payment.

Please forget I need that VIN number before the deposit. Just take a photo if you like.

I would like to make one or two comments here.

As someone from the UK who has thought about buying from the USA I would like to say.

1) I would never expect the seller to take anything to do with shipping, handling, paperwork or any other thing connected with getting the car away from his driveway.

2) I would never expect to have to do any of these things myself.

Neither I, nor the seller has any experience of these matters and any attempt at do-it-yourself is bound to end in tears.

There are companies here in the UK who will bring anything to my door, all I have to do is tell them where it is, sign a contract, pay an upfront deposit and the agreed remainder when the car is on UK soil. The Company pays the seller in Dollars, pick up of the car, all the shipping and Taxes and bills me at the end. I don't have to know your Bank Details or any other personal details, and you don't have to know mine.

I see PayPal mentioned here.
This is becoming a bad word here, caused by buyers claiming the goods are not as described or damaged. PayPal refunds their money and they keep the goods, unless you are prepared to go and collect them. Australia seems a long way to me.

First...make sure the buyer is in fact in Australia,and why he would want to buy this way is beyond me,beause there are hundreds of early stangs here,all imported from the US,BUT he must have an "approval to import" form from thre Australian governement BEFORE he does any deals.No form ,no import.
